The term "fast electric" is a relic of the days when electric powerboats were anything but "fast". Today, the situation is very different. Modern motors and cell technology allow power outputs and speeds unthinkable to the average boat modeller five or ten years ago. The fastest radio controlled model powerboat in the world is a 32 cell electric hydroplane which currently holds a speed record in excess of 140 miles per hour.
