The Schulze LipoProfiBal8 is a high speed, high quality balancer for LiPo and LiFe cells. It can balance packs of up to eight cells - its bigger brother, the LipoProfiBal14, can balance fourteen.

The LipoProfiBal8 has a universal balance tap connector that can be used, with appropriate adaptor lead, on any type of balance tap. The unit also has Schulze's proprietary BalCab10 and BalCab20 connectors.

The LipoProfiBal8 is a high speed balancer, thanks to its 1 amp balancing circuit. Unlike most other balancers, the LipoProfiBal units feed current from the stronger cells in the pack into the weaker cells, with the result that balancing is fast and the unit remains cool.

If you have a Schulze charger, for example an Isl-6 330D, the LipoProfiBal will bind with the charger and assume control of the charging process. The LipoProfiBal units have a safety circuit that monitors the cell pack during the charge cycle. The positive output of the charger is passed through the LipoProfiBal which terminates the charge cycle if a problem is detected.

Verdict

The LipoProfiBal8 is an excellent balancer. Sure, it's a fair bit more expensive than other balancers you can buy, but you are getting a very high quality item that will balance 8 cells very quickly. I bought my LipoProfiBal8 to pair with my Schulze Isl-6 330D when I started to use lipo cells, and so far I have to say it's performed admirably. The LipoProfiBal balancers are also upgradeable via the built-in RS232 port.
